Basic Education for Cosmetologist & Skincare Therapist
Cosmetologist & Skincare Therapist Program
The cosmetology education is a service profession and is defined as follows by the Danish Cosmetologist Association:
“A cosmetologist is a skin care and beauty specialist, and trained in a range of treatments such as facials, body treatments, pedicure, manicure, hair removal, and makeup. In addition to performing treatments, a large part of the job is to guide the customer in finding the right products for their needs. The cosmetologist is therefore also trained in sales and customer care.”
The education program for future cosmetologists is designed to cover a wide range of competencies in skin care and beauty treatments. The basic program consists of both theoretical and practical subjects, which ensure a thorough understanding and skill in the profession. Students must complete at least 2000 teaching lessons, of which 1500 must take place physically at the education provider to ensure direct, practical experience.

A significant part of the education focuses on preparing students for the final written and practical exam, which confirms their skills and knowledge within the subject. We are responsible for ensuring that all students are properly prepared for this exam. To ensure an impartial assessment, an external, impartial person who is a trained cosmetologist must be present during the practical exams, and a doctor must be present at the final oral exam in anatomy.
Upon successfully completing the education program, and after passing the final exams, an education certificate is issued, which confirms that the student is a trained cosmetologist, ready to contribute professionally within the beauty industry.
